Event photography can be fun and rewarding. There are many types of events that need photographers. You can decide whether you want to photograph weddings, baptisms, Bat Mitzvahs, receptions, family gatherings, corporate events, sports events, or all of the above. Whether you will be photographing many events or just one particular event, you can always use a few tips on taking better photographs.

So you want to take better photos of your special event? Here are some techniques that will help you achieve quality photos with your digital camera.

To avoid blurry photos use your cameras auto-focus function. Use a flash when indoors. The shutter opens and shuts quickly when using a flash which makes it less likely for blurry photos. Be sure to check your flash and batteries before photographing the event. You may think there will be enough light but you can always use a flash to fill in shadows.

When taking photos be aware of mirrors and windows. Shiny objects can reflect the flash or sunlight. Also be aware of what is included in your picture frame before shooting. You will not want to cut off anything that is important to the event you are photographing.

For outdoor photos, make sure that the sun is behind you or off to the side. Try to include people in your photos. Show how they are having fun at this event. Try to shoot candid shots along with posed shots. Add a few group shots and close ups of individuals having a good time.

Some event photographers also bring along a small printer. This way they can print photos on the spot selling them at a high profit. This is a great way for event photographers to make extra money.

No matter what type of event you are photographing, if the photos are clear, show all aspects of the event, and include many people having a good time, you and your customers will be satisfied.
